Original Handwritten Lyric Sheet Circa 1974 “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out”:
This rare lyric sheet was used to create one of Bruce’s most iconic songs, which was featured on his landmark record “Born To Run”. This song was also chosen by Bruce from his vast catalogue of music to perform at The Superbowl. According to Bruce, the song was inspired by his first meeting with Clarence Clemons, in which he was terrified by the size of “The Big Man” and his silent demeanor. Soon thereafter, “the change was made uptown and “The Big Man” joined the band”. It is well known that Bruce frequently closes his live shows with this song as well. This particular lyric sheet was featured in the Rock Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, OH for over 3 years, during the largest Bruce Springsteen exhibit ever. This demonstrates it’s importance as the museum could get basically whatever it wanted from Bruce himself, yet chose this lyric sheet to best represent Bruce’s work on the record.
