Original Black and White Flannel Shirt Featured On The Record Sleeve, “The River”:
This is definitely the most iconic piece of clothing ever worn by Bruce, recognized by almost any fan. Judging by the wear on the shirt and associated small holes, it is evident that this shirt was worn continuously by Bruce between 1978-79. Frank Stefanko was the talented photographer who captured some of the most famous images of Bruce, ironically wearing this flannel shirt nearly all the time. The 2 most recognized pictures are Bruce sitting on the hood of his 1960 Corvette titled “Corvette Winter” and the other shot landed on the cover of Bruce’s record “The River”, featuring the song “Hungry Heart”. Since most of the photography was done in black and white, very few realize that the shirt also has the color red. This artifact was so popular that Bruce’s merchandising enterprise has attempted to duplicate this item for sale. You can actually buy an authorized replica online. However, there are 2 flaws in the fabrication of the copy that even his own management team have failed to realize. Namely, there is no red in the new shirt. The other mistake we cannot divulge due to the proprietary nature of the collection. Whoever decides to purchase this artifact will be sufficiently informed as to its most intimate details. Prominently displayed in the Rock Hall Of Fame for over 3 years, it was clearly one of the star attractions.
